BURY2GETHER, The Blue Building

We are delighted to inform you all that our new BURY2GETHER Blue Building is now open on Brandlesholme Road in Bury. We look forward to welcoming our families.

On Friday 22nd February 2019, Leader Councillor Rishi Shori opened our new centre. On the day there was balloon modelling, face painting and Rob’s Rangers (an animal handling experience). There was also special guests who attended: James Frith MP, Director of Children’s services - Karen Dolton, Cabinet Member for Children and Families - Councillor Sharon Briggs and many more. This was a celebratory event complete with red ribbon cutting.

BURY2GETHER’s new building will be a new hub to coordinate workshops, training and social opportunities for special needs families in Bury.

Up and coming events include:

  • Parent/Carer drop-ins.

  • Twinkleboost sessions (Sensory Story time for under 5’s).

  • Together Trust hosting a sleep course.

  • EHCP training hosted by Barnardo’s IASS.

  • Parent/Carer workshops hosted by the charity Contact.

  • Computer/Gaming Club for young people.

  • Girls friendship club.

  • Sensory workshop-delivered by Advance Occupational Therapy.

The building has had specialist adaptations funded by Bury Council, to include a new Changing Place toilet facility. This facility includes a full sized change bed, hoisting and adjustable sink.

This facility is one of two new Changing Places in North Bury which has previously had none. The other facility has been built in Ramsbottom’s Community Church, instrumented by one of BURY2GETHER’s Committee Members, Rochelle Follows. This is fantastic news for Bury North residents who’s community has become more accessible.
